MomDot Party (Day 4): Holiday Recipes

(Click on this button to return to the party.)

Today is the fourth day of the MomDot Christmas of Dreams Blog Party, which will be running through November 27th, 2008. The topic of the day is . . .

What is your favorite Holiday recipe, describe your Holiday table, biggest holiday cooking disaster

Do two ingredients constitute a recipe?

I have never hosted a holiday dinner. I've only ever been a guest. What I usually bring is a dessert. My favorite thing to do is take regular dessert mixes and add different things to them. For instance, crushed Butterfinger sprinkled on top of brownie batter right before it goes in the oven is so yummy. I also like to put different things in cookie dough. I especially like the old classics . . . M&Ms, raisins, and toffee chips.

Last Christmas I brought chocolate chip cookies with chopped Andes Mint Chocolates in them. They came out really delicious. The mint was light and not overpowering at all. All you need to do is follow the instructions on the package and when you have the dough on the cookie sheet just push pieces of candy lightly into the dough. How many is up to you as long as they are evenly distributed throughout each cookie.

My biggest disaster was trying to put crushed candy cane bits in brownies. The pieces all sunk to the bottom, melted, and stuck to the pan. Only about 2/3 of the brownies made it out of the pan in one piece.
