It's been awhile since I've mentioned old Sitting Bull. If you've been a reader for a long time, then you'll know who I'm referring to. If you haven't, I am referring to our daughter. She earned the nickname "Sitting Bull" because, when she is truly unhappy, her face is unmoving like stone. It is virtually impossible to get even a partial smile or any reaction for that matter out of her.
Last weekend, our daughter decided she was extremely unhappy at the Food Truck Festival. It just was not as much fun as it was the year before for the kids. Before we left the event, we decided that it might be fun to have the children's caricatures done. The artist, from Fun Enterprises, Inc. was very personable and had the two boys smiling before too long, but not old Sitting Bull though.
This was the closest she came to smiling and she was not happy about it at all . . .
This is how the caricature came out. Do you see the resemblance? I'm not sure. He definitely captured each child's face shape, our oldest son's closed-mouth smile, and our youngest son's goofy toothy smile. I don't think the artist quite captured our daughter's evil eye. What do you think?

This Columbus Day weekend, we attended the 2nd Annual Framingham Food Truck Festival, made possible by the Food Truck Festivals of New England. My family attended last year, although I was not covering the event for my blog, and we had a blast. This year, we did not make as many fond memories as I had expected. I expected to be sharing many more photos of delicious food, like the one above, but taking the photographs were not so easy. Last year, there were tables and chairs for patrons to sit down and chat with their friends and family while they enjoyed their food. This year, although there was plenty of space for it, there was no seating set up. It was too much to ask our 3 children to sit on the ground in in the middle of the parking lot to eat while trying to balance their food, most of which was not served on plates, in their laps. We ended up opting to eat in our car, like many other patrons. That is why I was only able to photograph the hot dog from Boston Super Dog topped with cranberry relish that I shared with my daughter. The hot dog was as delicious as it was enormous. Next year, I want to try the onion topping and their Charred Grilled Pastrami.
Our 8-1/2 year old son opted for a Munchies Burger with bacon from Munchies Food Truck. He said it was just about the best burger he had ever eaten. He was so full from his burger, though, he did not have room for his Sea Salt French Fries. Luckily for me, I did! They were perfectly cooked on the inside and crispy on the outside . . . just like I like them.
Our 5-1/2 year old son wanted something with fish, so he tried the Fish and Chips from Captain Marden's Seafood. He enjoyed it very much, as did my husband who could not help but sample it. He said that the fish tasted very fresh.
My husband opted for the Beef Brisket Sandwich and a Pulled Pork Taco from Gabi's Smoke Shack. He said that both were excellent. I actually tried a taste of the beef brisket and had to agree.
We never got near the Kickass Cupcakes truck. The line never dwindled for this very popular vendor.
One of the highlights of this year's Framingham Food Truck Festival was the presence of the main sponsor WAAF. They played great music, which kept the atmosphere upbeat.
Something new this year was an area roped off for children filled with trampolines and hula hoops. Our 5-1/2 year old son had lots of fun jumping to the rock music provided by WAAF. If it was not for this area, there would not have been much for children to do. Last year, there were two very talented women who did elaborate face paintings, but they did not return this year. We ended up taking the children over to the toy store to walk around because we felt like they were a little disappointed about the festival this year compared to last year's.
Something we did have done before we headed over to the toy store was have a caricature done of our 3 children together. We thought it would be a fun keepsake. This service was offered by Fun Enterprises, Inc. Want to see the results? Checkout our Silly Monkey Story on Tuesday to see how the caricature came out!
My family received tickets to partially cover the cost of our food as a thank you for sharing information about The Food Truck Festivals of New England and for hosting a giveaway during Spring 2012.

Last October, my family attended the Food Truck Festival when it came to our area. It was super-hot for a Fall day in New England, but the whole family had a blast anyways. It was our first time attending an event by the Food Truck Festivals of New England. I was amazed by the variety of foods being offered, from seafood tacos to grilled cheese sandwiches . . . fried dough to bacon-wrapped meatloaf. That was the part that my husband and I remembered the most. Our children probably found the face painting and the ice cream truck to be most memorable. In any case, all five of us agreed that we must return in 2012.
If you have attended a Food Truck Festival in the past, then you may also remember that some of the lines could become quite long at times. To remedy this, rather than have every patron pay when they order, there will be tickets sold in advance, as well as on the day of the festivals.
