Stocking Stuffers 2010 Giveaway: New Wendy's Pick 2 Menu (Wendy's GC) [CLOSED]

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of bringing my family along to have lunch with several local bloggers and their guests at the Wendy's restaurant in North Reading, Massachusetts. What was the occasion? Well, we were invited to try out Wendy's new Pick 2 for $4.99 menu, where you are able to choose one out of four half salads plus another item, such as a side or a beverage or even a junior-size hamburger.

I brought my husband, sister, and twin preschoolers to the lunch. Our first grader was in school. We took lots of photos, but not all of them came out well with our little point and shoot. I regret not bringing my digital SLR with us.

Here is my family enjoying their lunch . . .

I ordered the BLT Cobb Salad with a Baked Potato . . .

My chili-loving husband opted for the Baja Salad and a bowl of Chili . . .

Below are the Boston area bloggers I met. There were some familiar faces and some that were brand new to me . . .

(From left to right) Kim of Mommycosm, Kate (and son Kellen) of Adventures in Parenting, Sarah of In the Trenches of Mommyhood, Melanie of The Coupon Goddess, Charlene of Charlene Chronicles, Christy of Quirky Fusion, and Karen of 3 Garnets & 2 Sapphires

Visit Wendys.com to view the entire Wendy's Menu or to find a Wendy's near you.

Review: Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Frozen Entrees

For my family, the taste of food is at least equally as important as the quantity when it comes to making us feel satisfied. That is why I've always avoided purchasing any foods that may have anything to do with dieting. I am worried that I will be spending my money on food that is low in calories, but also low in taste. I have always associated the brand Healthy Choice with dieting . . . until recently.

Now I associate the brand Healthy Choice with nutritious, preservative-free, convenient, and perfectly-portioned lunches. All the credit for this can be given to Healthy Choice's new line of Cafe Steamers frozen entrees. I received two different varieties of Mediterranean-Inspired Cafe Steamers to try . . .

Between the two, I much-preferred the Lemon Garlic Chicken and Shrimp. There was plenty of lemon garlic sauce, but it was not overwhelming. I liked very much that I could still actually taste the shrimp, the chicken, and the broccoli's natural flavors. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh the ingredients tasted. The entree is steamed in a separate tray before it is mixed in with the tangy sauce. This kept the pasta from becoming too soft and overcooked. As I had mentioned before, the quantity of food is perfect for lunch. If I were to use a Cafe Steamers entree for dinner, I would need to add something else to the meal, such as bread sticks or a salad.

In addition to the basic Cafe Steamers line, Healthy Choice also offers Mediterranean Inspired and Asian Inspired Cafe Steamers. I think I will need to try one of each variety to see which ones I would like to have again in the future. Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers sell for approximately $2.88 to $3.29 each. You can always check the website for Healthy Choice coupons to use at your local supermarket.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Healthy Choice and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

For Better or For Worse: Tuna Butter and Peas Sandwiches

My dear husband was about to take on the task of making lunch for our three children. Suddenly, he was being bombarded by lunch orders. Each child was competing to be heard the best by the chef.

"I want tuna fish!"

"I want a peanut butter sandwich! Please! Please!! Pleeeeeeeeease!!!"

"I want a tuna fish sandwich!!"

"No! I want peanut butter!!"

So my husband declared that he was serving everyone "tuna, butter, and peas sandwiches" to exact his revenge. They believed him too, especially the two younger ones. He had them quite worried for some time.
