Salonpas Arthritis Pain Patches for Relief of Gout Pain in Hands

A couple of year ago I was diagnosed with gout in my elbow. Since then I have had gout attacks in my feet and now a seemingly permanent attack in my hands. Although the severe pain and symptoms come and go, it is always there and it can be very uncomfortable at times. I basically do not use my index fingers on both hands anymore to open bottles or grip anything tightly. The symptoms are very slowly spreading to the rest of my hands.

As you can imagine I am always looking for relief other than taking pills. I have used lotions and creams with varying results. When I had the opportunity to try something different like Salonpas Arthritis Pain Patches, I could not wait to get them. It never occurred to me to try a product like a patch or bandage, so I was curious to see if they would help.

The Salonpas Arthritis Pain Patches are a little under 3" x 4" and are made to apply flat on larger areas. I needed to be creative to use them on my hands and knuckles. They are soft and very flexible and, by using a pair of scissors, I figured out how to use them in a way that covered my entire pain area with just one cut.

Once applied the Pain Patches stay in place with just the right amount of adhesive. The fabric used is very supple and easily moves with your body. I should say that after a few hours they did start to come off, but please remember I apply mine to my hands where I move a great deal. I was still very impressed with how well they stayed on.

The Pain Patches have a strong but not unpleasant odor of menthol. You can feel the "cold" heat right away and at times it is quite intense (but never unpleasant). I don't know if the Pain Patches are designed to do this, but it was my feeling that the intensity came and went over the hours I wore them.

How did the Salonpas Arthritis Pain Patches help with my gout? Well, they don't make it go away, of course, but when applied they provide a decent level of relief. My range of motion was still the same and if I clenched my fist there was pain, but there was no pain when I was relaxed, they definitely helped. I used them at bedtime a few times and they were very nice to keep me pain free while I fell asleep.  Also, my hands were not as sore and stiff in the mornings after wearing the patch all night.

Salonpas Offers Effective Over-the-Counter Temporary Pain Relief

The Salonpas brand of pain-relief products is a brand I know and trust because I’ve used their products many times in the past. They offer pain relief patches and sprays that provide temporary relief for sore muscles and aching backs. In addition, they have fantastic holistic pain-managing advice on their website. Salonpas was kind enough to send me 5 of their popular products: Jet Spray, Massage Foam, Pain Relief Patch, Arthritis Pain Relief Patch, and Pain Relieving Gel Patch. All products are intended to relieve minor aches and pains in various areas of the body.

First one I tried was the Pain Relieving Jet Spraywhich offers an immediate “freezing” effect of pain using a highly pressurize can. It sprays on easily and does not need to be rubbed in, so therefore it’s a no-mess application and it doesn’t drip. You just point and shoot for fast acting relief that is lightly scented like menthol. This stuff is highly effective but it is very cold. Honestly, too cold for my taste, but my husband loves it. It does have a very tolerable scent, so it would be great for people who are sensitive to these products.

Salonpas Massage Foam is the first to offer an easy and convenient foaming formula that comes in a pressurized can. It has two powerful pain-fighting ingredients inside and has a faster onset than similar products. It cools, soothes, and fights inflammation for up to 8 hours. It, too, is non-drip and quick drying, but does require some rubbing. It does come out fairly cold, but not nearly as icy as the first. I really like this Massage Foam. It works well and very quickly and really lasts for the 8 hours it boasts.

Salonpas Pain Relief Patch and Salonpas Arthritis Pain Patch are the first and only FDA-Approved OTC topical pain patches out there. Both help to relieve mild to moderate pain associated with arthritis, sprains, strains, bruises, and backaches. Both are produced using Comfort Stretch technology so they stay in place, moves with your body, and offers relief for up to 12 hours. The Pain Relief Patch is the patch I have used most often in the past and present, and I really like it. It’s not an overwhelmingly scented product but it does what it promises and is super easy to apply. The same goes for the Arthritis patch, but it is targeted for use by arthritis sufferers.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Salonpas Gel-Patch Hot, which contains two powerful pain-fighting ingredients: Menthol for a cooling, soothing sensation and Capsaicin for long lasting, heat relief. These two combine for 8 full hours of targeted pain relief. The gel patch technology stays in place better than most other patches and is available in two sizes to meet any person’s size. I had not tried these particular patches before, but they are my new favorite. They work much more quickly than the regular patch and stay in place much better as well. These really help to relieve my back pain that plagues me daily and I use them at least several times a week. In fact, I like these so much I used the entire box and have already purchased more.

Salonpas’ amazing products can be purchased at many major retailers nationwide, such as Amazon.com, CVS, Walgreens, and more. See their website to find a retailer in your area, www.salonpas.us.

Living Green With Jerinda: Topricin Natural Pain Relief Cream

Topricin is a natural pain relief solution in a cream form. It comes in three varieties: Topricin, Topricin Foot Cream, and Topricin Junior. Topricin helps relieve pain from arthritis, carpal tunnel, back pain, fibromyalgia, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, and more. It is odor free, non-greasy, and free from artificial dyes, Topricin is safe to use on everyone, including children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

I had no expectations when it came to Topricin. I had seen it at my local health food store, but never thought of buying it because I assumed it didn’t do what it boasted. I was wrong. Both my husband and I have plantar fasciitis in our feet and the foot cream has really, really helped alleviate that pain. I also suffer from chronic back pain and have been pleasantly surprised at how much it dulls even that pain. I won’t tell you it’s a cure-all for pain, but it works far better than any other over-the-counter product I’ve ever tried.

Review: BENGAY Pain Relief + Massage Gel

If you've ever had back or neck pain, chances are you've used a BENGAY product. BENGAY has been a trusted brand for many years and their newest creation, BENGAY Pain Relief + Massage Gel lives up to their reputation of dependability. It features a no-mess applicator that makes using it a breeze, plus the applicator itself is a wonderful massager with its little "nubs" on the end. Also, it has a vanishing scent, so you won't have to smell the menthol for long.

I really like this product. I don't use BENGAY often, but recently I've been dealing with excessive pain in my mid to lower back, so I wanted to give this product a whirl. I was thrilled with the results. I love the hands-free applicator, so there's absolutely no mess to using it, and I love the vanishing scent because I can't handle that overpowering smell for long. The gel itself is great, too, and does exactly what it was intended to do: decrease or eliminate your pain. It is recommended for people age 12 and up and can be used for simple back pain, sprains, strains, arthritis, bruises and more.

You can purchase BENGAY Pain Relief + Massage Gel at most retailers who carry health and beauty products nationwide.  For a limited time, when you register at BENGAY.com, you can receive a coupon for this and other BENGAY products.
