Shop 'n' Share: Replenishing My Husband's Geek T-Shirt Collection

This product was purchased with our own funds.  No compensation was received for sharing this shopping experience with our readers, however, this post may contain affiliate links.

My husband's favorite item of clothing to wear is a comfortable t-shirt.  In fact, I think he would be wear a t-shirt every waking minute if his office did not require him to wear a shirt and tie.  A printed t-shirt and a pair of khaki shorts is his uniform 3 months out of the year after work and on the weekends.  Somewhere during our 13 years of marriage, I decided "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em."  I always have my eyes open for t-shirts my husband might like.  My only rule is that I will not buy him white t-shirts anymore because he manages to stain them the very first time he wears them 95% of the time.

A few months ago, my husband discovered LOL Shirts.  He works in IT and is a geek at heart, and he has found tons of geek t-shirts he likes on this site.  This text-based Relax. I can fix it. t-shirt and one that says I'm here because you broke something. are his favorites to wear to work on casual Fridays.  There is always some kind of promotion going on at LOL Shirts and shipping is just $2 per shirt, so I don't mind helping my husband to replace some of his t-shirts that have become stained or worn.

Some of the shirts on this site are available in up to a size 5X.  My husband likes his shirts loose, so I usually buy a 3X for him.  There is an additional cost of just $.99 for size XXL and XXXL shirts.  On average, one shirt would cost me roughly $10, give or take one or two dollars based on the current promotion.  If you're looking for an affordable Father's Day gift this year, whether it be from you or your children, a shirt from LOL Shirts would be a great way to go.

By the way, each of my children's teachers will be receiving a teaching-themed t-shirt for their end of the year teacher's gift that they can wear all summer long.  Be sure to check those out if you are still in need of a gift for your child's teacher.  For a limited time, you can receive $5 off each shirt plus free shipping when you checkout using Promo Code: 5OFFEVERYTHING!

As always, if you shop, be sure to come back and tell me what you purchased!

Fun & Affordable T-Shirts for End-of-the-Year Teacher's Gifts (On sale for $5.99 each)

In our school district, individual teacher's gifts for Holiday and the end of the year are strongly discouraged for ethical reasons, so we usually give one gift to each of my children's teachers from the whole class.  The gift is usually a gift card along with a small token gift, such as a handmade collage, baked goods, or something else along those lines.  Well, I came across some fun teaching-themed t-shirts on sale for just $5.99 each.  These would make a great token gift to go along with a gift card.  The shipping cost per shirt is $1.99, making the total cost for each shirt to be an affordable $7.98.

These unisex shirts come in sizes S-XXXL.  There is an additional $0.99 charge for the XXL and XXXL shirts.  I featured my two favorite designs above, but there are six t-shirt designs to choose from altogether.  You'll have to hurry though, because this sale ends on Sunday, April 21st.

Review: UrbanBratz - Fun Hip T-Shirts For Kids

TWINtuitive Product #18

I chose these fun kids t-shirts from UrbanBratz to feature as a "TWINtuitive Product", because amongst the many cool t-shirts offered by this boutique, many of them are perfect for same sex or boy/girl twins. Some of my favorites are the "I Rock" and "I Roll", "Single and Ready to Mingle" and "Sorry Boys, I Can't Date", and the two that are my favorite . . . "I'm With the Hunk" and "I'm With the Hottie".

If you are not a fan of dressing your children all prim and proper, but rather prefer a little rock and a bit of hip hop style, then you will love this boutique. Their sizes start at 3-6mos onesies and run up to t-shirts in size 4T.

What I thought about our UrbanBratz t-shirts:

1) I'm not certain if all the UrbanBratz t-shirts are heathered, but the pair I chose are and they feel extremely soft . . . a kind of soft that takes years of washing to achieve on an average t-shirt.

2) This particular design caught my eye because it works while the twins are together or if my son is with me or our daughter is with my husband.

3) Although the overall tone on tone design is very well-done, what makes these t-shirts catch your eye is the metallic ink.

4) I also like that the people depicted in the designs could be young or old. The female is not particularly curvy and the male is not particularly buff, which is a major plus in the healthy body image category.

5) I like that the tag is a soft satin and does not itch. You can even cut it off if you prefer because the brand and size are screen printed on the inside of the shirt.

6) These shirts washed very well. The design has somewhat of a vintage look, but I did not see any signs of the screen printing peeling, cracking, or washing out.

(I know their positions should be reversed, but I could not resist choosing this photo because the twins are holding hands for the first time.)

I have to say that Urban-Bratz.com is one of the funnest sites I've visited as far as shopping for children's clothing online goes (and you all know I've shopped many sites). Everything from the clothing to the website design and the music just creates such an energetic, but laid back atmosphere. I highly recommend that you put it on your list of stops to make during your next online shopping adventure.

Thank you to UrbanBratz for providing us with a review product free of charge.

Branding My Family for Blogher 2010

If you read my blog, then you know that I begin my Christmas shopping in February and I start planning my children's 3 January birthdays in October. So you should not be surprised that I am thinking ahead to Blogher 2010.

I am very excited about this event! It will be my first year attending and I intend to take my husband and oldest son who will be 6 by then. We have already arranged for the twins to stay with my sister and brother-in-law.

So how will my bloggy friends find me and my family amongst the enormous mass of people? I am seriously considering custom t-shirt printing. I don't think I would use any of my banners as-is. I would probably revamp the design into an unframed high resolution logo.

Another option I was thinking about is custom temporary tattoos. Those would be fun and would not restrict our clothing choices, but I would need to look into the cost since I probably won't be ordering them in bulk. If the cost per unit is too high, then t-shirts would be much more sensible.

If you have any ideas about how I can brand my family for Blogher 2010, I would love to hear them.
