"IMAX - Born To Be Wild" Blu-ray Combo Pack

The 2011 documentary IMAX: Born to be Wild became available in a Blu-ray Combo pack, on DVD, and for download on 4/17.  Since our youngest children (5 year old twins) have not shown too much interest in live action films, this Rated-G 41-minute long documentary on cute orphaned baby orangutans and elephants was the perfect non-animated movie for them.  It was also a great opportunity for all three of our children to see how much love these animals received from the amazing people who rescued them and ultimately raised them.  Hopefully they have learned how important it is to love and nurture animals as babies, just as much as it is with humans.

For more videos, visit Born To Be Wild on YouTube

This film is narrated by famed actor Morgan Freeman, but it was the young orphaned animals that received all the attention and the giggles from my children.  The baby orangutans were allowed to do many silly things that human children are taught not to do, such as pouring out their bottled drinks or drinking their bathwater.  There was also much excitement about seeing an elephant in a pair of pants and a group of elephants playing soccer.  The entire documentary captured the attention of our 8 year old son, but the twins lost interest when the focus of the film turned towards returning the grown animals back to the wild.

Currently you can purchase IMAX: Born To be Wild in a Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, a Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and Digital Download from most major movie retailers.

Geek Review: ThinkGeek Extreme Monkey-Powered Awesomeness T-Shirt

I am not just monkey powered, and I am not just awesome, and I am certainly not just extreme....I am......EXTREME MONKEY-POWERED AWESOMENESS and people need to be warned of that. Can you imagine the mayhem that could ensue if people weren’t forewarned of this?

I love ThinkGeek. Really, ThinkGeek is the kind of company that I always imagined I would start if I wanted to own my own business. They just seem tuned into my inner (heck, outer) geek. Without exaggeration I can say they do not sell one product I would not buy. They don't pay me to say that either, they are just that awesome.

My size 3X Extreme Monkey-Powered Awesomeness Enclosed t-shirt is big and comfortable. The shirt washes well and I know I will own it for years. It needs to last for years because its job is critical. That shirt is the only thing that stands between unsuspecting civilians and my EXTREME MONKEY-POWERED AWESOMENESS!!!

Head over to ThinkGeek to check it out and to find more great gifts for geeks!

For Better or For Worse: Where Do Monkeys Come From?

This summer, our children have been on a bit of a banana binge.  For some reason, they cannot seem to get enough bananas, whether they eat them plain, cut up in yogurt, or in an ice cream sundae.  They would barely be finished with one banana before they would ask for another.

In an attempt to teach our children moderation, my husband decided to let our children in on a little secret.  As our children listened intently, he told them where monkeys come from.  He did so by explaining to them that monkeys were really once little children who made the mistake of eating two bananas in one sitting.

I'm not sure our children believed my husband's story, but to this day, they have yet to ask for a second banana again.  Perhaps they think it's better to play it safe just in case?

Giveaway & Review: Curious George "A Very Monkey Christmas" (DVD) [CLOSED]

Every member of our family is a Curious George fan. I loved the books when I was a child and now my own children do as well. We were thrilled when the PBS series, which is now in its 4th season, came to television. Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas is the first recent holiday movie starring our favorite monkey that I am aware of.

One thing that makes this DVD different from the television series is the viewers are treated to music. If you are not yet in the mood for Christmas, you will be after watching this movie about how George and the Man With The Yellow Hat work so hard to find the perfect gift for each other.

Please take a minute to view the musical trailer below:

This DVD is now available in stores and should definitely be on your list of considerations for holiday gifts for your Curious George fan. My family really enjoyed seeing what new antics George had come up with, such as knocking down all the Christmas trees while attempting to select the perfect one to take home. This movie also shows your child how to see the world in shapes. Keep that in mind as you attempt to figure out the puzzling wishlist George has given the Man With The Yellow Hat.
