MIRROR MIRROR Comes to Theaters on March 30th

It is no small undertaking to rewrite a classic fairy tale, but the director, producers, cast, and crew of the upcoming film MIRROR MIRROR appear to have pulled it off.  By incorporating a cast, including Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane, and Mare Winningham just to name a few, with captivating costumes and sets, the results appear to be a new, bright, and bold tale of Snow White.

By viewing the latest trailer below, you will see that there are enough familiar elements in the film so that one can easily recognize the story of Snow White.  On the same note, there are enough twists and surprises to make me think this film could be very interesting and entertaining.

There are three things that make me want to see this film.  The first two are Julia Roberts as the evil Queen and the elaborate costumes.  You can view more of the beautiful costume designs by visiting MIRROR MIRROR on Pinterest.

The third thing that draws me to this film is the concept of a Snow White who fights for what she believes in and does not wait to be rescued, proving that the "fairest one of all" does not need to be meek.

MIRROR MIRROR comes to theaters on March 30th, 2012.  To find a showing near you and for fun free activities, visit MirrorMirrorFilm.com.  You can also learn more about this film by visiting MIRROR MIRROR on Facebook.

Free Printables: "Mirror Mirror" Valentines Day Cards (Coming to theaters March 30th)

Have you experienced a fairy tale romance like that between Snow White and her Prince?  Well, here are 8 different Mirror Mirror themed printable Valentine's Day cards for you and your children to enjoy.  Simply click here to view all 8 cards.  After all, what better way is there to celebrate Valentine's Day than with a classic romantic fairy tale?

This retelling of the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is actually more modern-day than classic.  Lily Collins (of The Blind Side) plays a Snow White that actually fights back.  Even more interesting, Julia Roberts, who has always been known for her sweet smile, plays the evil Queen.

For a sneak peak, watch the Mirror Mirror trailer below . . .

Other members of the cast are Armie Hammer (as Prince Alcott), Sean Bean (as the King), one of my favorite actors, Nathan Lane (as Brighton, the Queen's servant).  Personally this trailer has made me curious as to how wicked Julie Roberts can really be and how the seven dwarfs translates into a band of highway robbers.  To find out, look for Mirror Mirror in theaters starting March 30, 2012!

What Are Your Predictions About "Sex and the City 2"?

So how many people nearly fell off their seats when they saw John Corbett's (a.k.a. Aiden) face on a "Sex and the City 2" promo on television the other night? Well, I certainly almost did. The way Carrie and Aiden looked at each other . . .

Recently, EXTRA had an exclusive interview with Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie) where she was asked to comment on three major rumors regarding this sequel, which will premiere on May 24th. The only item she clarified upon was the rumor regarding the movie's wardrobe costing $10-million. This she denied, stating that most of the clothing and accessories were borrowed. As far as there possibly being a "Sex and the City 3", Parker had nothing to reveal.

Now back to Aiden and Carrie. Do you think that Carrie will leave Mr. Big for her old flame? As I recall, the last time we saw Aiden, he was a married baby-wearing dad, who seemed to have moved on. I cannot say the same for Carrie. I remember her appearing to be slightly wounded when she found out about Aiden's new life. Even though you want the good guy (in this case Aiden) to win, it seemed like it was meant to be when Carrie and Big (the not-so-good guy) finally ended up together. Besides, it seems as if Carrie needs the exciting extravagant life Big can provide for her, as opposed to a quiet normal life with Aiden. I think it would be a mistake to have Carrie end up with Aiden and it would rule out a 3rd movie. I guess we won't know until May 24th.

Some Fun DVDs To Go In This Year's Easter Basket!

Here are some fun ideas to liven up your child's Easter basket this year. These will definitely be nice additions to all the oldies but goodies, like chocolate bunnies and bottles of bubbles.

There are two movies that were released on DVD this week . . . Happily N'Ever After 2 and Care Bears Cheer, There & Everywhere. All three of my children love the Care Bears because there is just something magical about them. If you are like me and you have not seen the original Happily N'Ever After, then you should know that this movie and the newly released sequel are available in a 2-pack for just $29.98 (while they sell separately for $19.98 each). Care Bears Cheer, There & Everywhere retails at a better price of only $14.98.

Some upcoming releases for late spring/early summer are . . .

April 21st - Wolverine And The X-Men: Heroes Return Trilogy

May 12th - 25th Anniversary Edition of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Season 7

May 12th - Speed Racer The Next Generation: Comet Run The Movie

May 12th - LeapFrog Letter Factory and LeapFrog Talking Words Factory

I think we already own all the LeapFrog learning DVDs, but my 5yr old son will surely look forward to the new Speed Racer movie. That's what he chose as the theme for his 5th birthday celebration. ;P

Thinking About Starting Movie Night Again

When it was just my husband and myself (during the pre-monkeys era), we started having movie night once a week. Sometimes we would select a movie from our personal collection, but other times we found it was a big money-saver to purchase a previously viewed DVD from one of our local video stores to watch at home rather than go to the movies. Two adult tickets plus refreshments would cost us $30, but we could get a DVD for about $10. Plus it is nice to curl up on the sofa and be comfortable rather than be in a movie theater full of strangers.

Movie night stopped after our first born was about a few months old. Free time was very rare and it became difficult to justify sitting on the sofa for two hours when we could use the time to get things done that we could not during other times in the day. That was all just part of adjusting to having a baby. Now we have three and we only wish we had the amount of spare time we had back when there was only one.

Well, our oldest is about to turn five. I was thinking about starting movie night again. Jake is old enough to stay up a little later when it's not a school night now. Plus it would be nice for him to have time set aside that is just for him with us after the twins go to bed. Also Jake's interest in movies is beginning to branch off from solely animated films. When it was just my husband and myself, we chose movies strictly for the entertainment value, but if we start to have movie night with our son, we will have to be more selective about our choices. After all, the world has become a very scary place to raise children. We should take advantage of every opportunity to teach ours to make the right choices in life.

Check out this trailer for the film All Roads Lead Home The Movie. Although the theme may still be a little too mature for our son, it is a very good example of a movie that a family can watch together.

We Saw BOLT in 3-D!

Thanks to my parents who were willing to stay with the twins this evening, my husband and I were able to take our preschooler to see the movie Bolt in 3-D. It was the general consensus between the three of us that it was a very good movie.

At first, Jake did not like the 3-D effects. He wanted to take his glasses off, but we convinced him to give it a chance and he did. He ended up watching the entire movie with the 3-D glasses on.

What made this movie great is the lovable Bolt. John Travolta did a great job with making the audience fall in love with this dog. If you are an animal-lover, I think you will find all the animals endearing . . . from the cat Mittens to the hamster Rhino to the variety of pigeons from different regions across the U.S. Miley Cyrus did very well portraying a sweet girl who was worthy of Bolt's devotion.

There was quite a few moments throughout the movie where Jake's smile turned into laughter. During one emotional point in the movie, however, Jake started to bawl. He was red and his chest was heaving. I felt so bad for him, but I think it is great how much he felt for Bolt who was feeling very sad at that point in the movie.

I just wanted to add that the animation was great too. You got to travel all over the country with these animals. There was also a segment that involved fire that was very well executed.

Coming To a Theater Near You on December 12th . . .

. . . Delgo

This animated film is brought to you by Fathom Studios and contains an all-star cast. Above you will find Freddie Prinze, Jr. as Delgo and Jennifer Love Hewitt as Princess Kyla. Delgo also brings to you the talented Anne Bancroft, Chris Kattan, Val Kilmer, Lou Gossett Jr., Michael Clarke Duncan, Kelly Ripa, Burt Reynolds, and Sally Kellerman.

My first impression of the trailers is that the artwork is very 21st century. It truly resembles the graphics from many of the ever-popular online roll-playing games enjoyed by people of all ages. Delgo will reach out to this audience because it is based on an adventurous magical fantasy world, but it also has some darkness and quite a bit of fast-paced action.

It seems like this movie has a little bit of everything. In addition to the action and adventure previously mentioned, it also has a theme of friendship. There is also some comic relief to offer balance to the film. The main message appears to be that two completely different cultures can co-exist and accept each other's differences. It is unclear to me if a romance buds between the main characters, so I will just have to find out when I watch it.

This film is rated PG. My son is about to turn 5. As with the movie Clone Wars, I would allow him to watch Delgo when it is released on DVD, but I think seeing some of the darker scenes on the big screen in stereo might be too much for someone his age.
