Weekend Wishlist: Skechers, KidKraft, DC Comics, and More!

It's Friday!  That means I've been browsing the new sales on Zulily.  I love shopping on the weekends because I only pay shipping on my first order and get free shipping on everything else from Friday through midnight on Sunday.  If you read last week's Weekend Wishlist, then you'll know I was pretty disappointed that the 'Who's There?' Owl Doormat I had saved in my wishlist sold out so quickly.  Well, it came back in stock today, so I bought it!  (To my husband:  Our old doormat in the front foyer is worn, stained, and just plain depressing.  This one is bright and cheerful.  You'll love it.  Just wait and see.  Yes, there is another welcome mat in my wishlist below, but that one's for the backdoor.)

What's new on my Zulily wishlist today?

1.  Indigo Stripe Linen Shift Dress - $29.99 (Originally $78)

2.  DC Comics Ultimate Character Guide Hardcover - $10.99 (Originally $17)

Get Geared Up For Back-to-School with "Twinkle Toes: The Movie" by Skechers

If you recall, I had previously shared the Twinkle Toes: The Movie trailer in June.  After much anticipation by our daughter, who is already mesmerized by the line of Twinkle Toes shoes by Skechers, the DVD was released at the end of last month.  With our daughter taking dance lessons, I just knew she would enjoy this movie.  Although, I think her two brothers would have enjoyed the movie also, we had a little girl time with just the two of us, watching the movie and doing our toes.

Twinkle Toes: The Movie would be the perfect thing to watch for any girl who is starting at a new school.  This is what our main character Grace Hastings had to do at the Performance Arts Academy, where she earned her nickname "Twinkle Toes".  After a humiliating first day plus a few more thereafter due to her being subject to stage fright, Twinkle Toes ultimately discovers the source of the problem, is able to overcome her stage fright, and saves the school from being closed down due to budget cuts.

This movie presents the topics of how it feels to start at a new school, dealing with bullies and harassment, the misuse of the Internet, a girl being raised by a single father, and friendship.  Our 5.5 year old daughter enjoyed the movie and loosely understood some of the real life topics illustrated in the storyline.  Overall, she was mainly focused on the dancing and the sparkly shoes.

You can find Twinkle Toes: The Movie on Amazon.com and most other major movie retailers.  My DVD included a $10 off coupon good at Skechers.com to use on a pair of shoes for either myself or one of my children, which was a nice surprise.  This DVD retails for $19.98, but is currently being offered on Amazon.com for $14.99 with Free Super Saver Shipping.

Shop 'n' Share: Great Prices for Kids' Skechers & New Balance Sneakers

If your children are anything like our nearly 8 year old son, then he (or she) already has certain brand names he wants for things like graphic tees and sneakers.  Since our son no longer wears shoes that fall in the toddler category, the price for the same pair of shoes is about $10 more on average.  I am not sure if it is the way I was brought up, but I refuse to spend $40 or $50 on a pair of shoes that will be outgrown in 3 months time.  It is possible to buy quality shoes in the brands my son wants at a reasonable price.

There are some stores where I happen to get lucky once in awhile and find some Skechers, New Balance, or Nike sneakers on sale, such as Sears, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Marshalls.  I have purchased good brand name children's sneakers from these stores for anywhere from $20 to $30.  If I need to buy a pair of sneakers for my son in the near future, I really do not want to check so many stores just hoping to get "lucky".  A few months ago, I realized that Famous Footwear carries the brand names that my son wants and often have a Buy One Get One Half Off deal.  I now consider FamousFootwear.com a reliable source for me to shop for shoes for my family.  My husband also is very specific about what brand of sneakers he trusts, so having the BOGO deal really works out for us.

I just purchased these Skechers Kids' Volcanic Sneakers for my son and a pair of New Balance sneakers for my husband at Buy One Get One Half Off and an additional 20% off on top of that.  Both pairs of shoes were already slightly reduced in price before these two promotions.  My husband's shoes ended up being only $43.99 and my son's Skechers were ultimately only $14.00!
Another reason why I like Famous Footwear is that they offer flat rate standard shipping for $4.50 for the first two pairs of shoes and free shipping on three or more pairs of shoes.  Now I just need them to expand their selection of handbags . . .
