Not too long ago, I mentioned how wonderful it would be if I could put a new stove on my Holiday wishlist. Well the Sears appliance sale, which started today, has made me reconsider adding that stove to my list. During this sale, Sears will be taking up to 30% off some of their top brands of appliances. If that is not enough to convince Santa, then he'll be happy to know that he can save an additional 5% off when he uses his Sears Card for this purchase both online and in-stores.
If Santa is feeling generous, he can feel free to bring me a new dishwasher in addition to that new stove. (Just thought I'd throw that out there.)
To combine the sale prices with the extra 5% off for using your Sears Card, you must purchase by January 5th. Visit www.Sears.com or your local Sears store to start shopping!
Want to spread the word? Share this deal with your friends on Twitter . . . "Give your Kitchen some much-needed love with up to 30% off Appliances + extra 5% w/a @Sears Card thru 1/5: http://bit.ly/ZPtqlN #Holiday2012"
This is a sponsored post with www.brandfluential.com. I am a Sears blogger, though all opinions are my own.

We only have carpeting up on the second floor of our home, so it did not make sense to lug our big heavy vacuum up and down the stairs. On the main floor, which consists of our living room, dining room, kitchen, and a half bath, we have only hardwood and stone tile flooring. As a household of 5 with young children and pets, I think we were the perfect household to test out what the Hoover Platinum Collection Cordless Stick Vac could really handle. We've been known to break our share of vacuums just from all the pet hair alone.
1) This vacuum is so compact and lightweight that it is a breeze to handle. The head fits into corners well, it vacuums close to the wall, and it is very easy to use for vacuuming the stairs.
2) I love that it is bagless and contains a replaceable HEPA filter.
3) This tall narrow vacuum does not look like it could stand upright by itself, but it does. Because it is so compact, it is very easy to store in a closet, even if it is a little broom closet.
4) The handle is very comfortable to grip. I think it is smart to have the labels upside down on the handle so that the operator can read them easily.
5) This vacuum has the option of vacuuming with or without the beater brush.
6) The vacuum's head sits low to the ground, so when we were vacuuming anything that had pieces or chunks, we had to lift the vacuum a little off the ground, otherwise some of the pieces would just get pushed around by the front of the vacuum.
7) I love that this vacuum is cordless and has a rechargeable battery rather than needing to be placed in a charger. It comes with a LiNX lithium battery, which claims to have power that never fades, and an Energy Star approved charger. Charging this vacuum is as easy as charging your digital camera.
8) Another great thing about the LiNX lithium ion batteries is that they are interchangeable between all the cordless Hoover LiNX products from this line.
9) The receptacle for the debris is very easy to remove and empty. You just push the button to release it and snap it back into place after you have emptied it. There are even instructions right at the bottom about how to care for the receptacle and the vacuum's filter.
10) As you saw in the video, this stick vac did very well against common household debris, such as pet hair, something chunky like dry rice cereal, something larger like scraps of cardboard (from the cats scratching on cardboard boxes), and something fine like cocoa powder.
11) When the stick vac vacuumed up the dry cereal, it actually grinded it into the consistency of sand, so it did not take up a lot of room at all inside the vacuum.
12) For something larger like the scraps of cardboard, you can see below that the larger pieces did not make it down into the recepticle.
13) One of the main things I wanted to test was this vacuum's capacity. It may be difficult to see in the photos, but there is a line about halfway down that reads "MAX". We were able vacuum the whole main floor before we passed that line.
I have to say that I was extremely surprised that this lightweight stick vac could pick up almost everything that our heavy duty vacuum could. I have not had this vacuum long enough to know how long it would last with such heavy use. I do think this Hoover Platinum Cordless Stick Vac would be great for light cleaning and occasional heavy cleaning when it is called for.
Currently you can find the Hoover Platinum Collection Cordless Stick Vac on Hoover.com and at major retailers, such as Walmart, Best Buy, and Target.
Thank you to Hoover for providing us with both a review product and a contest prize free of charge.

I am embarrassed to admit how many bottles of spring water my family goes through in one week. My husband and I had been thinking about installing a faucet filtration system for some time, but we were not convinced, based on feedback from family who have used similar products, that the water would taste good enough for us to drink after being spoiled by bottle water.
When the opportunity presented itself to try a countertop water filtration system by a trusted company like Cuisinart, I thought to myself that this is a sign that we should take the leap and try drinking filtered tap water. Little did I know that this little invention would surpass our expectations. Technology has finally caught up to our needs.
1) I am extremely excited about this appliance's ability to produce cold, room temperature, and hot water. This is so convenient for making tea, hot chocolate, and instant coffee.
2) This machine is very user-friendly. When the hot or cold lights are on, that means you can dispense hot, cold, or room temperature water by placing your cup, glass, or bottle under the appropriate spigot and then pushing the button marked with the desired temperature.
3) I very much like that I can turn the machine off when it is not in use. Then I need only to turn it back on a few minutes before I know I need hot or cold water. When the indicator lights come on, then I know that it's ready to go. There is also an Energy Saver mode, which allows you to turn off the heater completely.
4) Since the hot water dispensed is well over boiling, there is an important safety feature on this machine. In order to dispense hot water, you must push the safety button up and then depress the hot water button. I think that any household with children would be glad to have this feature.
5) Amongst the many contaminants the CleanWater Filtration System filters out are lead, chlorine, mercury, copper, and much more. The end result is cleaner water that tastes like supermarket brand spring water, which is something my family could easily get use to.
6) The unit comes with one replacement filter, which is nice. Each filter is expected to last up to 48 gallons of water filtration or an average of 3 months time. There is a built-in filter timer that will read "filtering" or "replace" to help remind you to change your filter. You can purchase a subscription for the filters through Cuisinart.com, but you should be able to find replacement filters at most retailers of the Cuisinart CleanWater System.
7) I also have to point out that the 2-gallon capacity is more than enough for us. I think as the children grow older, it will continue to be enough to suit our needs.
My husband and I are more than pleased with this product. It's brushed stainless steel finish is very attractive, but most importantly this unit saves us money, space, and prevents excessive use of plastic bottles. We actually have room in our refrigerator for food after all the gallon jugs and individual bottles of water have been removed.
You can currently find the Cuisinart CleanWater Filtration System and the replacement parts at Cuisinart.com and most major retailers of Cuisinart small appliances.
Thank you to Cuisinart for providing us with both a review product and a contest prize free of charge.

Today (September 6th, 2009) is the day that Kenmore officially accepts the last of the video entries for the Crazy Cleaning Confessions Contest. If you haven't already submitted yours, then you must hurry to make the deadline. For every video submitted, Kenmore will donate $5 to the Roots and Shoots program. If you don't have a video to submit, don't worry because you can still help. For every video that is viewed, Kenmore will donate $0.50 to Roots and Shoots up to a maximum of $25,000 altogether. You can help determine the winner of the contest by voting for your favorite video from September 11th through October 1st, 2009.
Whether you have some off-the-wall cleaning habits of your own or not, I think you will enjoy watching these short videos. Can you find one that reminds you of yourself? The one confession I can relate to the most is Mom Maven's Cleaning Confessions. Take a look at how she lets her clean laundry pile up unfolded just like me and how her family has to dig through the baskets to find clean clothes to wear just like mine . . .
Please take ten minutes to watch a few confessions a day. It's for a good cause! Also, don't forget to vote for your favorite video starting Friday, September 11th, 2009.
I wrote this post while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Kenmore and received a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
