Share Your Favorite Family Photo Moment For a Chance to Win $5,000 in Welch's 'Share Your Moments' Contest #sharewhatsgood

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Welch's. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

The most memorable moments for my family are both big and small.  They could involve something big, like riding the carousel for the first time, or something small, such as having peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that are shaped like teddy bears for lunch.  Welch's wants to know what your favorite family moment is!

As part of their 'Share what's good' movement, Welch's is offering you a chance to win a $5,000 Grand Prize just by sharing a photo of your favorite moment.  All you need to do is upload the photo on ShareWhatsGood.com or share it on Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag #sharewhatsgood.

Everyone who enters will receive a $1.50 coupon for Welch’s 100% Grape Juice or a $2.00 coupon if you share the contest with your Facebook friends.  This contest runs through October 25th, 2013.  To learn more about this contest or to read the official contest rules, visit www.ShareWhatsGood.com.  If you have not already, be sure to follow Welch's on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Upgrading My Husband's Underwear Drawer with #MaLoUnderwear by Mario Lopez (#CBias)

If I have never mentioned it before, then I must tell you that my husband is a very particular man when it comes to things like his socks, underwear, and even bath towels.  Once he finds something he likes, he sticks with it.  He wore loose boxers for most of his adult life and only made the life-altering change to boxer briefs a couple of years ago.  During the Spring and summer months, he prefers to wear compression boxer briefs because they prevent chafing.  For the cooler weather, he has been looking for something that he likes in a boxer brief that does not cost $25 per pair like his compression boxers.  He has tried many brands, from packaged boxer briefs to individual pairs from specialty stores.  Nothing has been perfect for him so far.

When I asked my husband if he was willing to try the new MaLo Underwear by Mario Lopez, he was surprisingly open to it even though I could tell he was a little skeptical.  All the other brands he had tried in the past were either too short, too thin, did not stay put, etc . . .

My husband was pleasantly surprised with the MaLo boxer briefs he received.  These particular boxers were in conservative colors, which he liked, although he does wear prints if they are preppy.  He found them to be very comfortable and they seemed to wash well with no signs of shrinking.  He prefers exposed waistbands for his boxers because they are thinner and more comfortable to him, so already he knew he would not be wearing the heather grey pair as much as the others.  I looked on the Kmart website, where the MaLo Underwear line is sold, and I did see these boxers in other colors where all 3 pairs had exposed waistbands.  Those will be the ones my husband will be finding in his stocking Christmas morning if Santa chooses to go that route.

Although my husband wears a size XL for boxers, he usually wears an XXL for his loose fitting white cotton undershirts.  Despite this, he decided to give the MaLo crew neck t-shirts a try anyways.  Like the boxers, these t-shirts washed well and did not shrink.  He was thoroughly surprised at how comfortable they were and admitted that he could easily layer the grey tee under his dress shirts.  He would not be able to use the black for work because all his dress shirts are light in color.

Overall, the MaLo boxer briefs are the closest thing my husband has found to being the best boxers for him, aside from his compression boxers.  There were two things that kept these from being THE perfect boxers for him.  The first thing is that the fabric for the opening on the front overlaps a little too much.  The second thing is that he would prefer the pocket to not be cotton/spandex, but instead a material that breathes a little better.

If you would like to try MaLo underwear and tees, look for the packaging below at your local Kmart store or on the Kmart website.  The 3pk of boxers and 2pk of crew neck t-shirts retail for $14.99 each.  You can also enter to win a chance to meet Mario Lopez plus $75 worth of MaLo products in the "Make Over Your Man" contest hosted by MaLo Underwear on Facebook.  All you need to do is post a before photo and an after photo of your man wearing a MaLo product along with a description of your makeover.  This contest runs through October 30th, 2012.  Visit the contest page for the official contest rules.

Silly Monkey Stories: The Best Kind of Mess

I am lucky in that our children rarely make messes, aside from spreading toys all over the house.  The one exception is when they are eating, especially when they are eating something they enjoy.  The more they like it, the messier their faces and hands get . . . or so it seems to me.  In my opinion, those are the best kinds of messes that I don't mind cleaning up (most of the time).

Below you will find some photos from my archives.  I did not have to dig too hard to find some photos of a few happy, but messy faces.  These are the results of a first Fudgsicle, a fruit pizza, and some frosted Christmas cupcakes . . .

Sophie Giraffe's 50th Birthday . . . "50 Years in 50 States" Photo Contest

Sophie Giraffe was an idea that was born in May of 1961 and has been making children happy and easing their teething pain for 50 years now. To celebrate, the makers of Sophie are holding a “50 Years in 50 States” photo contest for their loyal fans. To participate, simply take a photo of your child and Sophie in one of your state’s most famous locations and post it on the Sophie the Giraffe Facebook page.  One winner in each state will receive a Sophie Giraffe gift case (ARV $50) and will have his or her photo featured on the U.S. Sophie Giraffe website.  The contest runs through May 31st, 2011.  You can read the official contest rules here.

Sophie is a unique teething toy because she’s made from 100% natural rubber and painted with food grade paint. She’s the perfect size for little hands at 7 inches long and all the kids that I have in my care really enjoyed playing with her. The youngest one definitely loved her as a teether also. She is very well made, safe to chew on because she is free of harmful chemicals, and is exactly the right size and consistency for little hands and mouths. My only complaint about Sophie is the squeaker inside. It makes Sophie too dog toy-like, and my dogs had a hard time discerning the fact that she wasn’t for them. Also, even though the kids loved the noise, after an hour or so I was done listening to it squeaking constantly. Other than that, I really think that Sophie is an excellent teether for all young children and babies and would recommend her to anyone.

You can find out where to purchase Sophie the Giraffe, Sophie gift sets, and toys on their website, www.sophiegiraffeusa.com.  Learn more about Sophie by visiting Sophie the Giraffe on Facebook and on Twitter.

Thank you to Sophie Giraffe USA for providing a complimentary product sample for us to base this review upon.

Getting Ready for BlogHer: Colored My Hair in Nice 'n Easy's Dark Spice!

When my friend Louise from MomStart complimented me on how shiny my hair looked in a photo I had published in one of my recent Getting Ready for BlogHer articles, I joked with her that it must be the light reflecting off my gray hairs. Although, I said that in jest, there really is truth to that statement. If you look closely in the "before" photo below, you can see all the awful wiry gray hairs. I never realized how awful the problem was until I saw this picture . . . after all, I usually only have a frontal view.

Out of all the Clairol hair coloring products, Nice 'n Easy seems to work best on my gray hairs. I have thought about using the Gray Solution formula, but did not want to risk missing out on the depth of color Nice 'n Easy offers me, which really emphasizes my natural highlights.

Before and after . . .

It's hard to see because of the lighting, but the previous color was much more red. When I look at my hair in the mirror, it looks very dark and rich with no apparent grays.

If you use Clairol's Natural Instincts, then you are invited to enter the Natural Instincts Hair Color Contest through August 30th, 2010. All you need to do is upload one before and one after photo of you along with a brief statement about how you feel after using Natural Instincts. The entry that receives the most votes will win a prize including a chance to star in a how-to video, receive a complete makeover, and $1000 to shop in New York City. Celebrate Small Victories in the Hunt's All-Natural Ketchup Photo Contest

The only thing my children and I put on our hot dogs is ketchup. My husband is a lone relish and mustard man. That is why we need our ketchup to taste good. So my family was the perfect choice to test out the new all-natural ketchup by Hunt's, which contains no high fructose corn syrup.

I personally did not taste any difference in the 100% Natural Hunt's Ketchup and the children did not either. They never seem to be able to tell the difference when we replace a product with a better-for-you version, especially when we do not tip them off. I'd say this transition was a huge success.

To celebrate this achievement and to show that small victories are sometimes the best ones, Hunt's is hosting the High Five Family Fun Photo Contest. The grand prize is a $5,000 check that the winner can use towards a family vacation! There are also prizes worth $125 to be awarded weekly. To enter, simply fill out the short form on Hunt's Facebook page and upload a photo depicting a small victory experienced by your family. This contest ends on August 5th, 2010 at 11:59pm EST. Click here to read the official contest rules.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Hunt’s and received a ketchup sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central also sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Review: Ribert & Robert's WonderWorld

It has always been a challenge to create good children's television. Some have succeeded and some have not. There are many choices available, so parents can really pick and choose what they would like their children to watch.

WonderWorld TV has succeeded in creating a fun educational children's program that is interactive. The shows are written as if the viewer is one of the characters. All the characters speak directly to the viewer. Even riding on the WonderWorld Express is done from the first person point of view. The lovable character Ribert combined with all the other regular guests on the show make this program a winner according to my 5yr old son. Aside from Ribert, his favorite character is the host of the art segment "Art Starring Cousin Chris." A few other segments that my son finds most enjoyable are "Storytime with Leeny" and "Magic Starring Magic Matt."

In addition to interactive children's television, WonderWorld TV hosts an awards program for children called the Golden Ribby Awards. There are 40 contests divided between various categories and age groups. This is truly a fun activity for parents and children to work on together. Just take a look at the list of WonderWorld TV Contests and click on each one to hear what you need to submit for your entry. Usually it is a short video or a photo that is required with a fun spin to it. Although these awards are meant to promote your child's self-esteem and to create opportunities for quality time spent between parents and their children, there are actually real prizes to be won, including cash, electronics, and gift cards. This talent contest for kids is open to children worldwide.

If you would like to watch WonderWorld TV with your child, you can find free episodes on WonderWorldTV.com . You can also find fun free printables on Ribert.com, which include coloring pages and puzzles.
