Back To School 2011: Hello Kitty Table Lamp by Sparkle Bee

Our 4.5 year old daughter is a huge fan of Hello Kitty!  She has everything from a Hello Kitty jacket to a Hello Kitty handbag.  One thing she did not have was a Hello Kitty lamp.  Well, Sparkle Bee from Marino Adriani, a popular brand of children's and teen's electronics, happened to announce that Hello Kitty and Paul Frank will be the focus of their product line for Fall 2011.

Although this lamp would have been perfect on my daughter's desk, it was more needed on her nightstand.  Her previous lamp was battery-operated, a result of my trying to eliminate the hazards of electrical cords when she was younger, was no longer necessary.  She was more than ready to upgrade to a big girl's lamp.

It is very apparent that this Hello Kitty Lamp is well-made and sturdy.  This lamp will not likely be accidentally knocked over by our children.  The pull-chain is actually only there for aesthetic reasons.  The lamp turns on and off with the push of a button, which is much more user-friendly for a child.

This lamp can take up to a 60 watt standard light bulb, but can also be used with compact fluorescent bulbs.  The lampshade is lovely when lit up and gives off a warm light.  I also love that the lamp bears a chrome Hello Kitty insignia on the front, which adds to the perceived value of this lamp, should you be considering it for a gift.

Sparkle Bee offers many other children's electronics products, such as clock radios, telephones, boomboxes, and more.  Visit SparkleBee.com and Sparkle Bee on Facebook to view their latest products.

Thank you to Sparkle Bee for providing a complimentary product sample for us to base this review upon.

From Table Lamps to Bathroom Accessories

This is a perfect example of how my mind works. One thought always leads to another, but where I end up usually has nothing to do with where I started. I was browsing the selection of table lamps on CSN Stores for a suitable desk lamp. Can you believe I spend all this time at my desk at home and I do not have a lamp on it? I just rely on a nearby floor lamp for light.

Then I started thinking about getting the children's trampoline I had passed over for the writing desk last time I shopped on this site, but it was out of stock. That led to a go-kart, which led to a hanging jewelry armoire, which brought me back to table lamps, which then brought me to bathroom accessories. Are you following me so far?

I think the cause of my indecisiveness is the ongoing inner struggle between what we need and what we want. I think I compromised with myself and found something we both need and want. Our two bathrooms have been horribly neglected since we bought this townhouse. It was always our plan to remodel them, but we just never did. The chrome bathroom accessories below will go in the downstairs bathroom, which needs the least amount of work between the two.

Anyone want to come help me peel off wallpaper?

Giveaway & Review: Furry Nessie LED Lamp from Artistic Sensations [CLOSED]

"Room to Play" Product #7

If you are looking for a unique lamp for your child's, tween's, or teen's room, you must take a look at this adorable (and furry) child's LED lamp I found at Artistic Sensations, an online boutique that offers you everything you need in children's room design.

This is the Nessie Lamp . . .

Inspired by the Loch Ness Monster, this lamp has a flexible neck that can make the lamp shine on the ceiling, a desk, the book your child is reading in bed, or anywhere else light is needed. It measures an impressive 24"h when pointing straight up. Even when completely vertical, the Nessie lamp is weighted on its wider base, so it is extremely steady. My daughter uses this lamp on her bedside table and I have no worries about it tipping over.

The power switch is hidden within the head of the lamp under the soft furry material. Your child need only squeeze the head to turn the lamp on, off, and to switch between settings. It is very user-friendly and our 3yr old daughter can turn the light on and off by herself without any problems. The various settings include different levels of brightness, as well as a variety of colors. You can even set the LED light to change colors on its own. You just click the same button to scroll through these options.

This cordless lamp runs on 4 AA batteries, which are not included. There is a place to plug in an A/C adapter if you so choose, but an adapter is also not included with this lamp. For us, the lamp being cordless is perfect for our needs. I like that there is no wire for our daughter to play with and that the lamp is portable, should we need an extra light somewhere else. It was also a life-saver the day we lost power for over 6 hours due to a storm last month.

The Nessie Lamp comes in 9 different colors and patterns and is currently selling on Artistic Sensations for $34.99 (regularly $44.99). To view the full selection of children's and teen furniture, room furnishings, wall decor, and more, visit ArtisticSensations.com .
