I am usually lucky if I remember to go get a haircut twice a year. I just don't think of it. Maybe I need to attach a mirror to the top of my laptop screen?
Well, since my hair was at least halfway down my back, I thought it was about time to make a visit to the salon. I took some pictures to share, but I have to say that it was 90 degrees with 99.9% humidity last night (or at least it felt like it) and it looked a lot better when I first left the salon.
I estimate that he probably took 5 inches or so off the back. The next step is to add some color. I haven't colored my hair in about 2 years. Since my hair is so dark, it is usually a subtle change, but I always love it.

When I first starting blogging in March of 2008, I truly enjoyed sharing the some great finds I've come across while feeding my shopping addiction. Since I began to be immersed in product reviews, I have not been sharing about my everyday shopping experiences. I do miss it, so I decided to officially bring these posts back in this new series called "Shop 'n' Share".
I look forward to sharing great deals I find and any interesting things that I purchase without writing out a formal product or website review. These will be quick posts where I can share my finds along with a photo or two.

. . . you keep your nails short so you can type faster and blog more efficiently.
. . . you learn to type with one hand, eat with the other, and read to your toddler with a book open on your lap all at the same time (and doing all 3 well too).
. . . you just don't feel right not having at least one post published every calendar day.
. . . you need to use a DayRunner to organize your blog-related activities.
. . . you have to get your blog post in for the day even if it's a holiday.
. . . you are sick in bed and you only get out of bed to use the bathroom and to make your daily blog post (well . . . unless you have a laptop).
. . . you have clothing or jewelry with your blog's name on it.

Okay, so here I sit and it isn't even 6am yet on a Saturday morning. I didn't even go to bed until 3am and still I could not sleep. Here's why . . .
I have a deep phobia of bugs. It doesn't matter what kind they are . . . big, small, crawling, flying, buzzing, even spiders. It took my husband many years to realize how bad my phobia was. I think the point of realization occurred when we were traveling South by car and I realized there were little tiny bugs crawling all over the duffle bag that was at my feet on the passenger's side. We must have picked them up when we put the bag on the ground at the last pit stop. Being trapped in a small place with lots of bugs and not being able to remove myself from the situation is not ideal for me at all. So I started to get itchy. Then my stomach started to hurt and I started to have trouble breathing. I was having a panic attack for the very first time in my life. So that was when my husband first realized that I wasn't just being over-dramatic when I reacted to insects like I did.
Fast forward to last night . . .
Here I was sitting on our bed exactly where I am now (except my husband was not sleeping soundly next to me as he is now) typing away minding my own business. All of a sudden, I felt something nudge me on my behind. I turn to look and there was a huge brown bug on my boy shorts. So I tried to desperately shake the fabric to get it off of me. After what seemed like forever, it fell off onto the bed and I shot off the bed like I was on fire. So then I look and the bug isn't on the bed anymore. Instead I felt something land on the back of my should. That was when I let out a scream. This thing was after me! So I picked up the phone and called my husband on the intercom to get upstairs to catch it.
Well, it turned out that the big brown bug was nowhere to be found. So I sat back on the bed and tried to get some more work done while I waited impatiently for my husband to finish what he was doing on World of Warcraft so he could come to bed. It was tough to concentrate since my skin was itching all over and I was rocking back and forth hoping the bug wouldn't come back to land on me if I was in constant motion. I was also constantly looking around the bed, on myself, and around the room. I even tried to coax one of our cats to stay on the bed with me to be my guard cat, but he refused to cooperate. Nope, not much work got done.
So I tried to go to sleep when my husband came to bed, but I was still extremely itchy and paranoid. It didn't help that it was stifling and humid in our room either. I think I fell asleep at about 3:30am and woke up around 4:30am. I couldn't take just lying there being paranoid and itchy anymore, so I got up at 5am to take a shower. I figured that I could scream loud enough to wake up my husband if there was another attempt to attack me by the big bad brown bug.
You all must think I sound like a nutcase. The amazing thing is that my husband didn't call me one last night. He was sympathetic and tried to help and never made me feel ridiculous once. How wonderful is that?

This week's confession is not something that I did, but rather something that I thought about, which made me feel a little guilty and selfish.
I Confess . . .
It has been gloomy, rainy, windy, and in the 60's and low 70's for over a week now. Being the end of June, it would normally be in the mid to upper 80's where I live. Even though I know it has been awful for my children to be cooped up in the house with no sunshine for this long, I truthfully am hoping it will last a little bit longer. I am not looking forward to a hot humid summer and am definitely not looking forward to nearly doubling the electricity bill by running the air conditioner day and night.

I haven't missed a day of blogging since I started this blog in March of 2008. I have been such a slacker today that at 11:28pm, I have to blog about what a slacker I have been so that I don't go without publishing a post today. Sure I have a little fever and I was working on something review-related all day, but I still can't go to bed without letting all my readers know that I didn't forget about them.
Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! Happy Memorial Day to all!!

Did I ever tell you that I use to be addicted to siggies? No, not cigarettes . . . signatures! These are the kinds of signatures some people use in forums. Some forums don't allow them because they can make everything look busy and slow down the loading time, but many do.
After I joined my first mommies forum, I started to dabble in making these and blinkies (but that's a whole other addiction). I found it to be very enjoyable and a wonderful creative outlet. Most people usually choose to put use at least one photo of their children. Sometimes some commemorate a special date with a new siggy, like a child's birthday for example. Many people prefer a digiscrapped look, but not me. I use to make a new siggy for myself at least once a week on top of the ones I made for other people. I think I'm down to one every two or three months now.
Blogging is my new addiciton. Since I started blogging, I rarely ever think about replacing my siggy. I guess it's true what they say about how one addiction replaces another.

Well here it is . . . time to post my Weekly Winners again. So I plug in my camera to upload my photos for the week and, to my surprise, I didn't take any. DOH!!
Not wanting to miss a week of Weekly Winners, I looked around for a dog, a cat, anything, but there was nobody around. This is how desperate I was. Here are some self-portraits I took about 15 minutes ago . . .

I am someone who has had eczema her whole life. Where and how badly I have it may vary, but I always have eczema in some form. As an adult, I mostly suffer from it on my hands. It usually flares up when springtime allergies hit. The problem is, if I do not get a handle on it by the middle of autumn, I am in trouble for the winter. That is precisely what happened to me this year. It is nearly impossible to get my eczema under control during the winter here in New England because the air is so dry. Cortisone just seems to make my skin thinner and make it more susceptible to splitting. I've tried all kinds of moisturizers, some with oatmeal and some with silicone, and none of them keep my hands from cracking and splitting on the areas where I have eczema. The fact that I have young children at home and need to wash my hands often does not help at all. So when Skin MD contacted me to review their Skin MD Natural +SPF Shielding Lotion, I jumped at the chance.
The video below demonstrates how impressive "shielding effect" of Skin MD can be . . .
1) Skin MD gave me almost immediate relief when my hands were so dry they were hurting.
2) It really helped to apply the lotion before I went to bed. By morning my hands felt and looked a lot better.
3) Skin MD kept the cracking and splitting on my hands from getting worse, which was the way it was going before I started using the shielding lotion. I do not see a major improvement though. If I had been using this product in conjunction with cortisone during any other season besides our brutal winters (it is 20 degrees outside today and will be single digits tomorrow), I think I would have had much better results.
4) As per the instructions on the bottle, you do need to reapply after washing your hands if you want the shielding effect to continue.
5) The lotion does dry quickly and does not leave a greasy feeling behind.
6) The parts of my hands that are not effect by eczema are very soft and not dry at all after using Skin MD.
Overall, I would recommend Skin MD Natural +SPF Shielding Lotion to anyone with dry skin. I am definitely going to give mine another chance to work towards the end of the winter when the weather is not so severe. For now, I am happy that it can make my hands stop hurting when they are red and feel like the skin will tear at the slightest movement. That in itself is a huge plus for me.

I don't normally make New Year's resolutions because I have a history of not following through with them. I don't even think I last 24 hours.
I do have a lot of things I want to change in my life in 2009 though. So I am going to focus on the top two which mainly have to do with my feeling like my life is out of control . . .
1) I am going to make a schedule for everything I have to do and try to not do so much work during the day so that I can spend more time with my children. Amongst those things are:
- Writing for my blogs (blog posts, memes, reviews, giveaways, sponsored posts, etc . . . ) - Reconnecting with all the great bloggers I have been neglecting - Being a moderator on the SuperMoms World Forums - Being part of the MomDot Street Team - Maintaining the free blog listings on MomDot.com - Creating new product designs for Sillymonkeez.com - Creating new blog designs for ABOG Designs - Custom orders for both Sillymonkeez.com and ABOG Designs - Household chores
2) Since I had the radioactive iodine treatment in May of 2008, I have started to gain weight because my thryoid is starting to become underactive. I am going to have to make a schedule that includes exercising. I use to just fit it in whenever possible, but my busy life has caused that to dwindle down to almost nothing. I'm still having problems dealing with the way my body is after having carried twins, I don't need extra weight gain because of my thyroid. I remember when I was in college, how traumatic it was for me to break 100lbs. Now I long for that problem. ;P
Will any of you out there be making any resolutions this year and do you think you'll stick to them?

Thirteen Reasons Why I Don't Have a Real Thursday Thirteen Post Today
1. I have a cold that will just not go away 2. My husband has a cold 3. My preschool-aged son has a cold 4. My toddler daughter has a cold 5. My toddler son has a cold 6. The twins had their Early Intervention appointment today 7. We had unexpected dinner guests tonight 8. I had to get some things done today for my son’s upcoming birthday in January 9. Even though I’m trying not to be, I am a little preoccupied about the lump I have found in my neck. 10. I’m sleep-deprived 11. I’m starting to stress out about what I have left to do to get ready for Christmas 12. I’ve been having major pressure in my head and ears from allergies 13. I’ve been having stress-induced headaches from all of the above.

If you read my blog often, then you know that I don't usually post about the negative things in my life. My blog is suppose to help me escape all that. I do have a little bit of news though.
A few weeks ago, I noticed a lump on the base of my neck. I suspected that it was on my thyroid. If you don't know from following my blog, I've suffered from hyperthyroidism for years and underwent a radioactive iodine treatment in May of this year. Well, I was finally able to have the lump checked out by my specialist on Monday and he confirmed that it is in fact on my thyroid. I am going in a couple of weeks to have an ultrasound and a biopsy. There is a very small chance that it could be malignant.
That's all. I just wanted to let my friends and family (IRL and online) know about what is going on with me. I don't really want to think about it anymore until the day of the test. We have enough stress in our lives right now and there is just no use worrying about it until I find out that there is something to actually worry about.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

These are the things I am most thankful for this year . . .
1) My husband who is loving and works so hard both at work and at home. 2) My 3 smart and wonderful children who are caring little people with big hearts. 3) Having a roof over our heads and food on the table for 3 meals everyday. 4) My parents who have helped us through some very tough times. 5) Our old Beagle and our kitty cats who are always genuinely happy to see us. 6) My sister and BIL who are a wonderful aunt and uncle to my children. 7) My son's teachers for making him excited about learning.
Of course there is much more, but those things are at the top of my list. What is on your list this year?
